Plagiarism Policy

Jurnal Ilmiah Mappadising (JIM) requires submitted manuscripts to represent original scholarly work. Authors must appropriately acknowledge and cite ideas, data, text, tables, figures, images, instruments, and other material derived from external sources.

Attribution and Originality

Plagiarism includes presenting another person's words, ideas, data, or other material as one's own without appropriate attribution. Translating or paraphrasing material from another source does not remove the requirement to acknowledge that source.

Direct quotations must be clearly identified and cited. Authors must obtain permission to reproduce copyrighted material where required; citation alone does not replace any applicable permission requirement.

Authors must disclose and cite relevant previous publications of their own. Substantial reuse of previously published text, data, or findings without transparent attribution and justification may constitute inappropriate text recycling or redundant publication.

Similarity Screening

Submitted manuscripts may be screened using similarity-detection software during editorial evaluation or when concerns arise. The editorial team assesses identified matches in context, considering their sources, extent, location, attribution, and relevance.

A similarity percentage is not, by itself, evidence of plagiarism. A low score does not guarantee originality, and a high score does not automatically establish misconduct. Similarity reports are not used as the sole basis for editorial decisions.

Handling Suspected Plagiarism

When potential plagiarism or inappropriate reuse is identified, the editor will examine the relevant material and, where necessary, request clarification from the authors. Authors will be given an opportunity to respond to specific concerns.

Depending on the nature and extent of the issue, editorial action may include a request for correction, revision, or rejection. Serious concerns may be referred to the relevant institution or authority when a formal investigation is warranted.

Post-Publication Concerns

If concerns arise after publication, the journal will assess the evidence and determine whether a correction, expression of concern, or retraction is appropriate, in accordance with its Retraction and Withdrawal Policy.

Readers and other parties may report suspected plagiarism through the Journal Contact page. Reports should identify the affected article, the original source, and the specific material of concern.
